Child advocacy volunteers Uganda (CAVU) children organization was started in humble way by volunteers and a group of parents who were personally touched by the increasing number of orphans due to HIV /AIDS and poverty in Uganda. This was done for children to have a sense of shared history, and learn important social skills that can help them engage and interact as family and community members later in life.

 

 CAVU`s emphasis is to improve the lives and meet the needs of orphans and vulnerable children affected and infected by HIV/AIDS. And to support referral activities of sick children to access health facilities, providing ARVS and food support and some families start income generating activities so that they can support their families, train communities in psychosocial support to orphans and vulnerable children. Making sure these kids go to school, have food, Medication and a roof over their head.

 

Objective strategy

To care for HIV/AIDS orphans and vulnerable children have the opportunity to become useful adults in their communities.

Essence of our work

Keeping orphans and vulnerable children at school is crucial for their future and the community at large; we provide education that work as a safety net in the child’s life. Schooling can also help to break the cycle of poverty. Orphans may be the first to be denied education when families cannot afford to educate all the children of the house hold.

Objectives of organization related to orphans

  • To provide care and support to orphans and vulnerable children.
  • Help grandparents and guardians who are weak physically and economically to give necessary child care and support, access education, medication, care and food.

General strategy of the organization

To contribute to the reduction of HIV/AIDS and to empower young people in communities through provision of information, resources and skills that facilities positive change to enable suitable development of Uganda.

This is done by building organizational capacity of young people, providing support and training them skills that lead to social economic transformation promoting good governance and quality and equity.
